Worklife and reward

Day-to-day workflows are well managed by the nursing team during ops, with the schedule for the day for the running of the vets appointments are well taken care of by our wonderful reception team. The ability and capability of the vet on consults and ops are taken into consideration when booking procedures and cases, ensuring no undue stress to any of the team, in turn making the day flow easily and manageable. Our nursing team have daily consultations for pets from nail clipping, to providing a comprehensive weight clinic.
Onboarding
New members of the team both Vets and Nurses will spend their early days shadowing the more senior members of the practice, which helps them to gain an understanding of how we run as a practice, and what to expect in the day to day running of our practice. Following shadowing we allow Vets a longer consulting time for them to get to grips with the various consults they will come across with us, from the easy cat bite abscess to the more complex ongoing ear infections/ pseudomonas cases. Reviews are made every few weeks to ensure the correct support is in place, and to ensure our new members of the team feel confident in their new role! As a student you will have a designated RVN coach who will mentor and guide you on a one to one basis, ensuring you have the appropriate lesson/learning time for your studies.

Breaks
Breaks for the vets are incorporated into consulting time, allowing for a catch up on notes, this is allocated as a 30 minute lunch break with an extra 45 mins admin time, we understand the needs of our staff who may simply need a breather from continuous consulting! Two to three further breaks are allocated throughout the day from consulting to have a catch up, type up notes or simply take a minute. Tea/coffee is a plenty with our kettle always on the boil.

Flexible working
With the ever changing needs of work/life balance we offer flexibility for all our staff and are very open to flexible working. Our standard working week would be 4 days but we have options for 3 days, 5 days, part time roles and remote working. Our head nursing team are trialling a 4 day working week.

Nurse champions
As a practice, we are a heavily nurse led team! They are worth their weight in gold, and will often schedule your day for you, draw up pre-meds, have blood work run and completed prior to the pets procedure, placed IV lines into co-operative patients beforehand and also really enjoy providing high quality diagnostic radiographs for you to interpret!
The nurses are there not only to help your surgery day or consulting day run smoothly, but to support our new members of the team and also teach at the same time.
