Worklife and reward

Breaks
All breaks are paid, but expected to be taken. Times of breaks, to maintain workflow and preventing a staff room jam, is something we have been working on. We audit the ability to take breaks in our bi-annual 'check-ins' and we are winning. 'I've never missed a break' was one comment from a newer member of the team at the last 'check-in'!
Vets have an hour at the end of their shift for admin time. Consulting nurses have at least 30 minutes.

Flexible working
We support flexible working for all the team. We have a rolling 6 week rota, so you can plan ahead. Any shift changes due to annual leave are requested with plenty of notice.
We do not have two members of the team on the same shift pattern e.g.
Head nurse Becky works every weekend, having Monday and Tuesday off (to match her husbands shifts).
Vet Natasha's shifts incorporate long weekends, instead she works longer days.
Nurse Anna works one day from home (completing insurance claims, managing debts and auditing), with two days in practice around her two children. She works three nights on-call every six weeks, but also covers some annual leave.
Nurse Kelly covers three nights on-call, working one less day in practice.
Receptionist Clare works 4pm-8pm on week-days.

Compensated overtime
Overtime is monitored monthly, which allows us to highlight regular days or times causing problems.
Overtime is paid.
On-call shifts equate to 2.5hrs pay.
