Winchburgh Dog Show!

Craig Brogan, Winchburgh Gala Day Committee, says:
"Our 1st annual Winchburgh Dog Show was barking success. We had close to 40 entries, which was beyond our wildest expectations. Having our furry friends be part of our gala celebrations was wonderful and one we will continue in the years ahead."

The Dog Show had ten categories for owners to enter their dogs in.

The Dog Show event judges were Registered Veterinary Nurse Amanda Dolan, and Receptionist Nicky Watkin from Westport Veterinary Clinic's Winchburgh branch.

Amanda says:
"I had no idea just how much fun it would be to judge the Winchburgh dog show. There were so many contestants, making it an almost impossible task to pick the winners. I had the biggest cheesiest grin on my face the whole time which made my cheeks ache. Well done Winchburgh, so many beautiful babies."

Nicky says:
"It was so much fun and all the dogs were absolute superstars and all did so well. It was lovely to see so many people turn up and join in and it was obvious that everyone had worked hard on grooming, trick practicing and fancy dress - they did Winchburgh proud. Can't wait until next year!"

The winners of each category received an engraved glass award and dog treats. Winners were chosen by the judges and prizes presented by the Winchburgh Gala Day Committee.

Linor Kirkpatrick was at the event with her dog Luna. Luna won the Trick Wizard category.

Linor says:
"We actually only went along to watch! It had been so hot during the day that I wasn't sure we'd make it, but once it cooled down we walked over to the community centre. When the judges asked if anyone who hadn't registered wanted to join the tricks category, we decided to give it a go."

"Luna completely surprised me and showed off the tricks we've been learning at Lothlorien Dog Club. I was so proud of her for winning, especially as she impressed so many people that someone even asked if I was a dog trainer! It was such a lovely community event, and I hope Luna inspires more people to teach their dogs a few fun tricks and join in next year."

Well done to all of the winners and to everyone who took part. Thank you to Amanda and Nicky for judging all the amazing dogs - it was not an easy task!
