Westport Vets becomes a Disability Confident Employer

WPVC has been confirmed as a Disability Confident Employer - Level 1

Today, Fiona was invited to a Government run event to become a part of the Disability Confident Employer iniative.

Being a Disability Confident Employer means we are committed to supporting our team with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need in the workplace, if they have a disability or medical condition.   This helps us attract, recruit, retain and develop disabled people from the widest possible pool of talent and helps keep valuable skills and experience within the industry.

As a Disability Confident Committed organisation, we have agreed to the 5 Disability Confident core commitments and identified at least 1 thing we’ll do that will make a difference for disabled people.

Disability Confident is creating a movement of change, encouraging employers to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people. Being Disability Confident is a unique opportunity to lead the way in our community, and hopefully, we might just discover someone our business cannot do without.

It was developed by employers and disabled people’s representatives to make it rigorous but easily accessible – particularly for smaller businesses. The scheme is voluntary.

The 3 levels on our Disability Confident journey are:

  • Disability Confident Committed employer (Level 1)
  • Disability Confident Employer (Level 2)
  • Disability Confident leader (Level 3)
