VetsNow provides Westport with expert out of hours care for our clients at their Edinburgh clinic, and also operates a specialist referral hospital in Glasgow for management of more complex cases.

Mercifully, the need to perform CPR is a rarity for our team at Westport Vets, however when the need arises it pays to have had some practice in a lower stakes setting.   The practical CPR session covered a range of scenarios that are commonly seen in veterinary practice, with simulation on lifelike dummy patients - Andrew admits that a 2 minute cycle of chest compressions is still a surprisingly good workout!

Although every patient and emergency situation is unique, there are common techniques and skills that can be practiced and planned for so that our team functions to the best of their ability under pressure, and freeing them to think and act effectively.

That’s why we regularly perform CPR training as a team in house, and refresher courses like this allow us to keep up to date with the latest developments in this critical topic.
