September Update

With how busy the last few months have been for the Westport team, this month seems to have absolutely flown in and by!

One of our RVNs, Lauren, took part in the Kiltwalk in Edinburgh, raising money for endometriosis. Endometriosis is a chronic disease which affects 1 in 10 women, but takes on average 8 years to diagnose. She had a goal of £100 and so far is sitting at an amazing £245 raised for the charity! Well done Lauren!

Linlithgow also achieved its silver award for the ISFM cat friendly clinic - just in time for our new cat clinic and kennels opening up. The whole team are really proud of this achievement and can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on.

We also have a massive well done to our Westport Vets Team from our South Queensferry branch who took part in the Queensferry Rowing Club’s event. We had one of our receptionists Gail, vet Mair and two RVNS Chloe and Lucy who all took part and did the practice proud! Mair said “I spotted the poster in the staff room and asked around at work to gather a team together. We had one practice session last weekend. It was hard work but really good fun and a fantastically well-organised event.” The event was set up and dedicated to Alan “Mel” Meldrum who sadly passed away ten years ago.

We also launched our new PetsApp across the branches, which allows us to easily communicate with clients through quick and easy text messages where they can message at any time of day. So far, the feedback has been very positive, and both the staff and the clients are loving it.

Linlithgow also hosted our most recent CPD event called “Communicating with Cats” where the wonderful Nikki McLeod took us through everything we needed to know about better understanding our furry friends. Nikki’s presentation was titled “Nikki’s Top Ten Kitty Tips” where she shared a wealth of knowledge and was more than happy to talk to us and show us videos from a cat's perspective while walking around the clinic. It was a wonderful night and we all came away having learned something new.

Linlithgow receptionists Hannah and Julie and practice manager Fiona also attended this years BVRA conference in Birmingham. With a host of talks, rep stands and chatting going on, it looks like everyone had a really good time and they were all able to come away having learned something new and report back to the team on everything they’ve learned.
