Reflections on the London Vet Show 2024 with Stuart
Having just returned from the London Vet Show, Stuart wanted to share some highlights from this massive and incredibly insightful event.
It's been a while since he last attended, and the sheer scale of this year's show was truly astonishing.
One of the standout sessions for him was on pancreatitis, a common yet serious condition in veterinary practice. It was reassuring to learn that the treatments we already implement are in line with best practices, emphasising the importance of avoiding antibiotics unless sepsis is suspected. On the topic of recruitment marketing, he found some innovative strategies that could benefit the practice. But perhaps the most impactful session for Stuart was on abdominal surgery complications, a reminder of the importance of mastering the basics, knowing one's anatomy, and seeking help when needed.
Stuart also had the opportunity to present on culture and thriving in the veterinary field, sharing insights from the BVA Great Workplace Award. It was a rewarding experience, and reconnecting with old friends from university made it even more special.
Overall, the London Vet Show was a fantastic experience, filled with learning, networking, and inspiration. It reinforced the importance of continuous learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in veterinary medicine.
