Ophthalmology CPD with Andrew

Andrew has a special interest in eyes and has been taking further training, which will hopefully lead to a certificate in ophthalmology.

Andrew recently spent a day taking a close look at Ophthalmology hosted by the BSAVA at The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh.

It served as an excellent refresher on identifying and managing eye cases in general practice with a focus on how to make the most of ocular examinations and up to date treatment of common conditions.

Andrew was particularly interested in learning about the use of bandage contact lenses which can be applied to temporarily protect the surface of the eye in patients with corneal ulceration.
He also got some handy tips on the use of our Slit Lamp Biomicroscope (available at both our South Queensferry and Linlithgow sites), which allows us to get an exquisite magnified view of problems both on the surface and within the eye.
