November Update

Another busy month for the team!

All the Westport clinics took part in the November antibiotic amnesty which was where clients could bring back out of date medication, or medication that they no longer use, and we would safely dispose of it for them.

The Cat Clinic in our Linlithgow clinic also finally opened its doors for their first consultations upstairs for our furry feline friends. Vet, Yasmin, was the first vet to have a day up there and got lot of excited comments about the new facilities that they could use.

Vet Rachel and Nurse Gillian, both who have certificates in acupuncture, primarily work out of our South Queensferry and Drumbrae branches, are bringing their acupuncture consultations over to Linlithgow. This way they can open up more opportunities for our pets to come in for a session and see how they do. This is a great way for pets to deal with pain, and in some cases can help deal with disease.

We also held our most recent CPD in the Linlithgow branch with the topic “Diabetes and Senvelgo: Clinical Overview”. The guest speaker was the lovely Louise Bird, a veterinary surgeon and an American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Diplomate. During the talk, Lucy presented a very informative refresher on diabetes in feline patients, as well as teaching us about a new oral drug called Senvelgo that may be used instead of having to give insuin injections.

Linlithgow receptionist, Julie, also completed her Silver Award in the Accredited Veterinary Receptionist Award. Well done, Julie!

Vet Yasmin and her friend Sam have also been working together outside of work on a Guinea Pig calendar - where all the proceeds are going to charity. They have been getting together with their own pigs and doing little photoshoots of them to fill the calendar with delightful photos for the year.

Vet Nurse, Steph, has also completed her Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Nursing through the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. This is an absolutely fantastic achievement and the amount of hard work that has been put into this course by Steph is amazing. She has worked super hard and all the team at Westport are very proud of her!
