Great Workplace BVA Award
In July 2023, Westport Vets had the privilege of being one of three veterinary practices asked to participate in a new accreditation pilot scheme which was being created by the British Veterinary Association (BVA)
Great Workplaces by BVA is an innovative new accreditation scheme that helps to build a thriving workforce by recognising and rewarding positive workplace culture in both clinical and non-clinical veterinary workplaces. Underpinned by BVA’s existing Good Veterinary Workplaces initiative, achieving accreditation will help vet teams feel valued and empowered.
During the Great Workplaces accreditation, we were assessed on 18 themes across four areas, by using an online survey which was completed by all of the Westport Team and then interviews with a selection of our team members. The four areas in which we were assessed were:
- Health and Wellbeing
- Leadership and Management
- Culture
- Learning and Development
To achieve accreditation, workplaces needed to prove they fostered a supportive, inclusive culture, with clear roles and communications, and encouraged & encompassed a positive work environment.
In June 2024, we were thrilled to be accredited with a Silver Award - the first award from Great Workplaces by BVA to be presented in the UK - an amazing accomplishment, which is a testament to the fantastic people we have working with us.
Clinic Manager, Fiona, was presented with the award at BVA Live in Birmingham by Malcolm Morley who is the senior Vice President of the BVA.
