Endometriosis UK Scottish Parliamentary Evening
On 25th March, RVNs Lauren and Fiona were invited to attend the Annual Parliamentary Reception to mark Endometriosis Awareness Month.
As an Endometriosis Friendly Employer, Westport Veterinary Clinic was invited along to the event to network with other Endometriosis Friendly Employers, charity volunteers and MSPs to discuss and raise awareness of this condition.
The evening included talks from Monica Lennon MSP, Emma Cox CEO of Endometriosis UK, Anna Glazier (Women's Health Champion) and Jenny Minto, Scottish Health Minister. The MSPs discussed how important Endometriosis is on their agendas within parliament and shared with us their targets and ambitions to help woman in Scotland access the help and support they require. The evening provided an insight on how health care is seen from a political stance as well as allowing people to share their own personal stories and experiences.
RVN Lauren, our Endometriosis Champion at Westport Veterinary Clinic shares her thoughts on the evening:
"The evening was very informative and was a great opportunity to network with other volunteers like myself, and to share our personal experiences with the MSPs in the room. It was great to be able to be in a room full of passionate and like minded people who are all advocating for change. It was a privilege to be invited by Endometriosis UK and the Scottish Parliament and I hope that there will be many more events like it to help raise awareness."
While Endometriosis Awareness Month comes to an end for 2025, Westport Vets are continuing our support for Endometriosis UK Charity, our colleagues and those affected by this condition.
