Stuart's journey to Bristol was motivated by a desire to expand his surgical repertoire beyond the Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) technique, which he already proficiently performs. The TPLO course represented an opportunity to learn an alternative technique for treating cruciate ligament injuries, ensuring we can offer the most appropriate treatment for each patient.

 

The course was a blend of theoretical and practical learning and was reflective of our clinic's approach to comprehensive learning:

- Stuart practiced on plastic bones to familiarize himself with the TPLO technique.

- He then engaged in detailed planning using x-rays from cadavers.

- This was followed by performing the TPLO technique on cadavers, ensuring a hands-on, practical experience.

- Post-operative x-ray evaluations by specialist instructors provided valuable feedback.

- The process was repeated multiple times for in-depth understanding and skill refinement.
