How it Started VS How it’s Going- Becky and Laurie’s Story
We’ve been here from the very beginning. From a team of one vet, two nurses and three receptionists to nearly twenty in the team! During this growth Laurie accepted the position of Head Receptionist and Becky, Head Nurse.
Laurie ‘Some of my highlights have been being nominated and coming runner up in the BVRA Veterinary Receptionist of the Year Awards 2019. Guiding the practice through our RCVS PSS award for client service and achieving outstanding! My time at Vets for Pets has provided me with the chance at a second career. After working as a nurse for people with learning difficulties I took a break to raise my family. I’ve realised a lot of my skills were transferable and with some extra CPD I’m where I’m supposed to be’
Laurie ‘Working through Covid was a struggle, as we split in to two small teams. However, on reflection I have learnt I am more resilient than I thought I was’
Becky ‘Covid was probably the most difficult thing we’ve been through as a team. But I’m proud of the service we continued to provide, continuously adapting and reviewing our protocols.’
‘My highlights have been undertaking my Masters in Animal Nutrition (supported by the practice). I qualified through the NVQ route and never thought I’d be going to uni as an adult! I’ve enjoyed introducing wellbeing ‘check-ins’ and completing my mental health first aider training.’
It’s not always been smooth sailing, but we still feel that we are achieving our & Elliot’s original vision of a happy place to work. Providing a high level, professional service in a highly supportive environment.
