C-Section Central!

Where some practices see a C-section once in a blue moon - we are the epicentre of C-Sections!

Here at Staveley Vets we see a high number of C-sections, with a fair few people coming from wide and far to have their bitches procedures done!

As we run our own out of hours service, we have an avergae intake of caesarians of around 2-3 a week during peak puppy season. Its all hand on deck during in-hours c-sections and we enjoy getting the whole team involved in group puppy-rubbing sessions as we all know many hands make light work.

We often will get new graduates involved in this side of the procedure as well as getting them scrubbed in to help hold large puppy-filled uterus'.

Our student nurses who are involved in the out of hours rota, often mention back at college they are one of the few students there with a high case load of c-sections in their classes!

On top of this the vets GDP's are full of many a c-section, and find themselves able to do c-sections solo with in a few months time. Our current recently graduated vet has managed to do 3-4 c sections - with the last 2 being a solo procedure for her!

We love to see our new grads blossom in confidence!

Our nursing team also love a challenge, and regularly are seen scrubbing 8 puppies, monitoring the bitches general anaesthetic as well as providing our sole vet everything they need for a successful c-section!
