Certificate success for Laura and Caz

RVNs Laura Sproul and Caz have recently completed their nursing certificates in nutrition, and physiotherapy/rehabilitation, respectively.

At Greenbay we love to support individual interests. It has been great to see Laura and Caz develop their knowledge and skills for the benefit of our patients, clients and team.

Laura has been putting her knowledge into use for the benefit of our patients, with improved protocols on in-patient feeding, fact sheets for clients, and a range of nurse clinics.

These are the areas she can help with:
🐾 Patients that have been recommended therapeutic diets e.g. kidney diets, hydrolysed diets for allergies.
🐾 Patients that would benefit from therapeutic diets to ease symptoms e.g. skin or digestive issues.
🐾 General advice on life-stage feeding.
🐾 Advice on choosing and assessing diets, including terms used on pet food and how to read food labels.
🐾 Advice on the pros and cons of feeding niche diets such as: plant based, insect protein and raw diets to enable owners to make an educated decision prior to changing to these diets.

Caz has created exercise plans for patients with arthritis or those recovering from surgery and been monitoring patient's pain and lameness scores using questionnaires and our stance analyser.  We have been successfully using therapeutic laser in our arthritic and surgical patients for many years now. Thanks to Caz's new knowledge and our continued investment in equipment, we can now complement this with a PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field therapy) mat and therapeutic ultrasound. We do a lot of orthopaedic surgery, so it is great to be able to better support patients and owners in the post-op recovery period, as well as helping patients with arthritis.
