Physiotherapy Nurse Training Day

On Friday 25th November, Ellesmere Port were delighted to host Judith Pares, owner and veterinary physiotherapist at 2tracks Vet Physio, who spent the day with members of our nursing team from across Animal Trust, teaching us all about physiotherapy and how we can use it in practice.

Our nurses gained valuable CPD and were treated to a combination of lecture-based material followed by practical sessions (aided by our fabulous dog assistants!) covering gait analysis, palpation and joint assessment, and treatment. They learnt lots of valuable skills to implement in consultations and for our hospitalised patients, as well as useful tips to teach owners for use at home.

Sessions like these are just one of the ways we encourage continuous training and development of our teams. Our nurses have taken lots away from the session about the importance of physiotherapy and this will help us to provide even better care for our patients at our sites. We perform lots of orthopaedic surgery here at Ellesmere Port, so this will be great for our post op cruciates and patellas, as well as for our many patients suffering with osteoarthritis.

The feedback we’ve received so far has been great:

'Thoroughly enjoyed today, I’m sure my doggy did too! Thank you for organising. Very informative and looking forward to sharing what I’ve learnt today back at Rhyl

...it was great ...I'm sure we will all be utilising info in practice ...looking forward to more nurse training events 😀 x’

Thanks to all our fabulous canine participants and of course to Debbie for organising and to Judith for a fantastic day!
