It's B Corp Month!

At the end of last year, we received word that Animal Trust had been approved as an official B Corp! Now, if you’re not sure what this means and why we’re so massively excited about it – here’s a heads up...

B Corp is a global movement. It looks to transform the global economy to benefit all people, communities and the planet. There are companies from all over the world joining to demonstrate that it’s possible to run a successful business whilst also taking care of staff, improving communities and being sustainable to help protect the world we live in for future generations.

Over the last 2 years, behind the scenes, our fantastic teams have been working incredibly hard to achieve certification. B Corp companies must demonstrate that they meet exceptionally high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. In order to achieve this, we have undergone rigorous assessment across several areas within our organisation.

It’s easy to talk about being ethical and sustainable, but at Animal Trust we are ‘walking the walk’. This is such a huge milestone for us and we are beyond proud to say that we are the largest veterinary company in the world to have B corp status! We’ve always been proud to be a company with a social heart so this accreditation means the world to us.

We hope the B Corp movement will continue across other businesses and we want to give a special shout out and good luck to our friends here at Meraki who are on their very own B Corp journey!

We asked a few of our team members what being part of a B corp means to them.

I joined Animal Trust 6 months ago after working for my previous employer ever since I was a new grad (or baby vet!) Years later, and all grown up (ish), I made the big decision that it was time to try something new. When I visited Animal Trust, I was immediately drawn to their mission. They placed huge emphasis on supporting their communities – both the teams that work for them and the local people and pets who rely on the life-saving service they provide. I feel genuine pride to work for a B Corp; for a company that cares and wants to protect our planet and the people that live in it.’

I’m really excited that we have received our accreditation after everyone’s hard work. Global warming and the climate crisis are the biggest issues our world faces currently and so it’s brilliant to work for a company who strives to make a difference and make real changes to improve our environmental impact.’

Animal Trust has always been a company with a social conscience, balancing a high standard of patient and client care with a fulfilling, purposeful career for our people. We are always looking to deliver more and receiving this accreditation is testimony to the commitment of our people to our community and the wider world. I’m proud to see the importance our staff place on making a difference and having a positive impact on the planet.’
