Attending an Employer Liaison Day with a difference!

How finding out more about a new service provider led to an unexpected treat

We were delighted to appoint one of our reception team members, Charlotte, to a student veterinary nursing position earlier in the year. Our vet nurse training provider has traditionally been Bottle Green Training in Derbyshire which is a 45 minute drive away from the practice.  However, given that Charlotte doesn't yet have a driver's licence, we agreed to look at alternatives and have been in close liaison with Cannock-based Rodbaston College which will only be a short college bus ride away.

Our Practice Manager Rachel recently spent an afternoon at the college on an employer liaison afternoon specifically relating to changes and improvements to the delivery of their level 3 veterinary nursing course. As well as a presentation on course structure, content and delivery, attendees were able to meet tutors, ask questions and find out more about student support. Rachel was really impressed and we look forward to Charlotte commmencing her course at Rodbaston in Spring 2024.

As a perk at the end of the afternoon, delegates were invited to go on a tour of the facilities including their campus based zoo. Here is Rachel feeding a sweetcorn cob to a very gentle porcupine. Not your everyday occurance on fact-finding days at work!
