Learning experience we offer
With a high case load and a bias towards sick pets, Animal Trust is a great place to gain some EMS. There's always something going on for you to get involved with. From consults and inpatients through to routine and advanced surgeries, we'll get you involved and hands on.

We’ll encourage you to put the theoretical knowledge you gain at university into practice, seeing real cases with real owners. As well as our first opinion work, we often take on complex cases for pets whose owners can’t afford referral care. You’ll get to see a great mix of routine consults, surgeries, dental work and preventative care, alongside more advanced medical and surgical cases. We also have a CT scanner. Ellesmere Port is one of our 24-hour hospital sites, so you will also be able to get involved in inpatient work and handovers between the day and night teams.

Alongside clinical skills, a large proportion of what we do can be considered non-clinical. You’ll be able to see how our teams communicate with our clients, including those difficult discussions surrounding finance or end of life. You’ll learn just how important these ‘soft’ skills can be. You can also expect to gain an insight into working for a not-for-profit business and a B-Corp company.
What we expect from you
We want to help you develop so expect enthusiasm, professionalism and a desire to learn. Arrive on time, offer to get involved and help out and ask us lots of questions!

When you book your placement with us, we'll ask you to fill out a little form to give us an idea of your general interests and also any specific learning objectives you might want to achieve during your time with us. If you have an idea of what you might like to gain from your time with us, then let us know.
Other Information

Check out Georgie in our photos above. She initially came to us through EMS and we were thrilled to offer her a place on our new graduate scheme when she qualified. She's now an invaluable member of the team!
