We love welcoming veterinary students for Extra-Mural Studies (EMS) during their clinical years. Every placement is different, and we believe the key to making it a great experience is understanding what you are looking to get out of your time with us. It’s really helpful for us to know what experience you’ve had so far, so we can support you in building on the skills you’re confident with, while also giving you the chance to develop in areas you’d like to strengthen.

As a busy, independent practice with a varied caseload, we can offer students the chance to shadow and be supervised in consultations, surgery, and dental procedures. Our aim is to work with you to make your placement rewarding, supportive, and enjoyable.

We’ve found that students get the most out of their EMS placement when they are proactive, engaged, and take responsibility for their own learning. Before you arrive, we’ll chat about what you’d like to achieve during your time with us, so we can make sure your placement is as useful and enjoyable as possible. On your first day you’ll be introduced to the team and shown around, so you can settle in quickly and feel part of the practice.

We don’t currently have on-site accommodation available, but we’re very happy to help you find somewhere suitable if needed. Lauren or Nik (our Practice Manager) are always available if you need support or would like to discuss any concerns during your time with us.
